In order to work safely, individual employees may need personal protection. Protective equipment aimed at vital parts such as the head, eyes, ears, hands and feet can significantly reduce the risk of (permanent) injury.

A (risk) inventory has been made within Swapfiets in order to be able to provide good advice for the right PPE for the various activities. In addition, tests were carried out to arrive at a package that is as safe and comfortable as possible.

The PPE package for Swapfiets consists of: hand, foot, face and hearing protection.

How to use:
For regular work in the workplace, a few models of gloves (Deltaplus VV811, VV734 and Kyorene) have been chosen that offer protection while retaining grip and finger feeling.

In addition, gloves for hand protection are included for grinding work (Deltaplus heat resistant glove) and also gloves for chemicals in combination with heat (Deltaplus LAT50).

The latter is used for incidents involving the battery of a bicycle, in which case it must be placed in the designated storage bag.

How to fit:
Choose the right size (advice is to wear it tightly around your hand) to make optimal use of the comfort.

When to change?
When there are wholes in the gloves or the grip is gone, its time to change the glove.

How to use:

The shoes meet the required standards;

– A protective midsole so that no objects can penetrate the sole.

– A steel or plastic nose that protects against impacts or falling objects.

Included in the pack are S1P (Quick Sprint) models, S3 (Quick London, Elten Maddox, Bata: Vibe, Energy and Up) models and S5 boots.

For indoor work, an S1P work shoe is sufficient. It offers the right protection and is comfortable with breathability.

An S3 shoe has the additional property that it is water-repellent for at least 1 hour when you are dealing with a damp working environment.

For example, if you have cleaning work, it is advisable to put on boots. These are waterproof and most suitable for working in wet working conditions

How to fit:

Never wear safety shoes too tight, a little bigger is better.

When to change:

Based on a 40-hour work week, you need change the shoes at least once a year.

How to use:
During the work at the workplace, grinding may be necessary.

Although this is sometimes “done quickly”, it is not without its dangers. Then wear the appropriate face mask which is included in the package and which is part of the Swapfiets equipment at the workshop.

When to change?
When there are any cracks in the screen it’s time to change the product.

How to use:
If you stay longer in a room where there is “noise” or if you use a machine, there is a risk of hearing damage.

The sound level is indicated in Decibels. When a sound is experienced as continuously disturbing, an indication measurement of 70 Db. At 80 Db, there can already be annoying noise (noise) and the risk of hearing damage is already present when exposed to this from 8 hours. Hearing loss is insidious. This is also facilitated to prevent, so use of this is a urgent request.

How to fit:

When to change?
When the product no longer closes around the ear cups, it is time for replacement.
